I am attempting to hone one of the most important qualities of leadership…the art of asking questions. So many times leaders are so caught up in their own pursuits that they forget a strategic step…asking questions. Any leader worth his salt will hone this skill and learn to ask and listen.

Here are ten questions every leader should be asking himself, and those he leads. These are in no particular order.

10 Questions Every Leader Should be Asking

1. Am I spending a majority of my time doing only what I can do for my team?
2. Am I developing those around me?
3. Is there something I can delegate?
4. What can my team do to make a difference beyond our normal sphere of influence?
5. Have I clearly communicated my mission/vision?
6. What can I/we stop doing?
7. Am I only attempting to accomplish my goals or am I helping my team reach theirs?
8. Have I defined what a win is for my team?
9. Why are we doing what we are doing?
10. What do I want to be doing in two years?
